US Visa Photo Requirements 2026: Size, Background & Important Notes

US Visa Photo Overview

US visa photos have different requirements from Vietnamese passport photos. The US Embassy in Vietnam requires that photos strictly follow the standards set by the US Department of State. A non-compliant photo will cause your DS-160 application to be rejected.

Critical Rule

The US Department of State does NOT accept visa photos with eyeglasses, including prescription glasses. This rule has been mandatory since 2016 for all US visa categories.
